We found a family living in our backyard yesterday. I know that might be hard to believe but stranger things have happened. I once had a call about a single Moroccan mother who had given birth at a hospital and had nowhere to go. I visited with some friends and found Rahma all alone with nothing but the clothes she was wearing. Her baby was wrapped in a towel. I called my husband, and told him to please buy newborn diapers. And so off they both came to live with us for several weeks until we found a long-term home for them. Rahma asked me to name her baby for her, and I named her Noor, which means light. We still visit Rahma and Noor often, and they are both doing really well. Sad story, happy ending. Don't you just love those?
And so now back to the family living in our back yard. Well their plight is considerably less complex because, you see, they are a family of hedgehogs. Another single mother, I am afraid. (What is it with these irresponsible males?) Here is a picture of the two hedgehog babies lounging at our place. The Mom is near by, never fear. So sweet. We are taking donations -- so please send hardboiled eggs by email. Shoukran bazzef.
