Morocco: and demystifying the Moroccan blog girl next door

Yes, it's true, a short podcast of me - the Moroccan blog girl-next-door. Yikes. Now, it's not what you think. You see, one of my favorite Barcelona-based bloggers, Amine from the blog Label ASH, was in Marrakech for business, and so we met up for lunch. Yay! He was charming, accomplished, and multi-lingual. And most importantly, nice. Yep, his wife did well.  So after we lunched on mixed grill, he whipped out his camera and did this podcast.  I am afraid that I am looking a bit, ahem, au naturel. But I didn't know what crafty Amine had up his sleeve. Otherwise I would have done my hair and worn a little lipstick. Eeek.

So as you can see, I am pretty much just a regular girl, standing before you on a blog, and trying to figure out what to say....

If you have time, click here and rate this podcast.  That would be swell:-)

Gosh, the whole time all I could think is how you look like a cross between my Dad's goddaughter and my friend's sister! I love videos because then it feels like you know the person so much better. It was really nice.

Where did you say you dined???
In a bookshop in Nottinghill??

Maryam, Loved meeting you via your podcast! You're absolutely delightful and beautiful-which is no surprise! What a lovely interview that was-Amine is a fantastic interviewer! Loved what you shared!

Just watched the video and you are a natural in front of the camera. Have you ever considered adding video to your blog? I would live to see your olive grove and the ongoing construction of your new home.

wow! Great job...you are courageous and beautiful. Can a foreigner buy a land in Morocco?

That is so neat! It's great to put a face and voice to you. :)

It just amazes me that it can be 11 pm here in ashland oregon and I can be watching this wonderful interview on my computer and feel like I have just sat down to have lunch with you myself in Marrakesh. I can't tell you how much fun it was and how much your experience reminds me of living in mexico. I really hope to spend some time in Morrocco in the future. I know my husband and I would love it. This whole blogging thing is really fun isn't it? And congrats on your new opportunity. k

Thank you for posting this, your 'au naturel' look is beautiful, natural in front of the camera, who needs makeup? :)

Great interview!
I so hope that everything works out for you and yours.
Thanks for introducing Amine.

Loved the interview, it's great to put and face and voice to the name.

This was great, love the interview! You're beautiful!

For now I had only time to watch the beginning of the video, but let me tell you, you are one sweet beautiful person.
Not that I hadn't realized that already.
Good luck,
Merisi

you are beautiful, you don't need lipstick you are just lovely!!

Oh, I mentioned you in my blog today!!

Pleassssssssssseeee. You so do not ever need makeup. Your outside beauty matches your inner beauty. I want even more so to see your paradise and talk to you. The next time I'm in Marrakech on a whirlwind tour (or Inshallah a longer trip).

What fun to "meet" you this way! Your new shopping editor gig sounds like fun...best of luck...

Leslie

Are you kidding? You look great! That was so much fun to watch. It's neat to see bloggers "in person" after reading and enjoying their words. It makes them seem like actual, normal people. :)

You speak very passionately and articulately about Marrakesh. (Congrats on the new job with the shopping magazine!)

Oooh, here's an idea: a video tour of your future Moroccan paradise!

Maryam, you're so poised in an impromptu interview! Well done! And you look gorgeous. Looking forward to meeting you in Paris. As for the magazine position that involves shopping, sounds like so much fun (and my husband would be worried too. He gave me a little lecture about spending so much money at the brocante - and he doesn't know the half of it!) xo

Wow Maryam, lovely to finally 'meet' you.

You're oozing of 'naturel'ness. Your beauty both within and without just shone through.

Yes, I too felt as though I've just been sat on a leisurely lunch with you.

Your fan base will shoot through the roof after seeing this! ;)

More, more s'il te plait!!!

You really are a natural in front of the camera Maryam - and like many others say, it is great being able to put a voice and a face to the name - I feel like I know you so much better now! I must admit though he did make me feel a little woozy with his hand-held camera movements! Was fun to watch and listen to though. Would love to see more of these. All the best x

Dear Maryam - you are such a warm and passionate person - Marrakesh is lucky to have you. Look forward to your shopping tips and if I ever visit again I'll look up your guest house!
Best of luck x

You're just so beautiful. I can't hear what you say since this computer has no sound, but you are just lovely to look at ;)

Wow! What a great surprise to see you on video! I ditto everyone's comments. You looked fantastic, natural beauty and grace all rolled up into a wonderfully informative piece on your adopted homeland. I now see why you are such a great writer...very succinct and thoughtful in the way you communicate.

You are so much prettier than I imagined! And I couldn't be more envious, I saw that podcast and my heart just ached for Sevilla, (just a few miles away...in Spain) it is like a little European, Spanish Marrakesh, and it is my favorite city in the world, I used to live there, and I want so much to live there again...You are living a dream!

When I found your blog I was consumed with envy, because you are so obviously living the life I was supposed to be having! And now I am even more certain, since I lived for four years in Dakar, among other places... my Dad worked for the State Department. They were in Tunis for several years and we took some wonderful trips to Morocco. My favorite trip was getting on the wrong train and ending up lost in the souk in Rabat. Do you know how fast a souk empties at dusk during Ramadan? Your blog brings back some great memories and makes we want to get out of the country more, that's for sure.

Wow. That was so much fun to watch. You are a natural with your warm personality and exuberance for life. Thanks for sharing more of yourself with us. Congratulations on the magazine gig. Your design flair and sense of style has always been a hit with your blogging friends. And I look forward to seeing you and your husband do great things in Marrakesh.

Mimi
P.S. Your advice to the lovestruck (that would be me) has served me well. Thanks, my friend.
