Cairo: and what to buy?

Oh, shopping in Egypt....What to buy?  (She says, wringing hands.) What ever to buy?

Here's what I came home with....

Blog_6 Three petite Egyptian blown glass vases.  Just one white stem in each, please.

Blog_4 One large antique vessel with Arabic writing, hand incised.

Blog_9_3  Some yards of Egyptian cotton textiles, hand block printed in a traditional pattern.  For bolsters in outdoor pavilions ....

Blog_1 Hand-blown glass balls in pale green and amethyst with glass loops for tying or attaching.

Blog_10 A selection of heavy hand-carved natural stone soap dishes.  So lovely for Peacock Pavilions.

Blog_8_2 A vintage suzani.  My obsession for embroidered ethnic textiles continues...

Blog_11Lustrous Egyptian alabaster bowls.

Blog_2_2A large hand hammered bowl for display or for salad...

Blog_14 Part of an antique light fixture.  I am going to have it rewired for Peacock Pavilions.

Blog_7 Many hand blown glass bowls to serve vanilla ice cream in...

Blog_15 A suzani bag for when I am feeling my most bohemian.

P.S.  I am launching the Peacock Pavilions Shop online.......A curated collection of lovely things.  Soon, soon, very soon. ...  What do you think?
