Marrakech: and stylish riad for sale?
He was tall, very tall. He was handsome. Yes, very handsome. He was a model for Hermes. The blogging girl's friend said she felt weak in the knees, whenever she saw him. The girl understood why. Perfectly.
He wore black. Naturally. His house was almost all white. Of course. He was a stylist for Kenzo, for Vogue, for others. The last Zara catalogue? That was his work. But he was so modest, that when she asked him about that, he just laughed, and said that his first job was selling towels on the beach in the South of France. And then he poured her more wine. How very, terribly, devastatingly charming.
He lived in France and in Spain. And in Morocco? Why not? He bought a courtyard house, a riad, in the Marrakech medina. Greedy, he bought a second one. Feeling guilty (Catholic, she wondered?) he decided to sell it. A riad which was perfectly modern, perfectly minimalist, perfectly edited. He had styled it himself.
The blogging girl coveted the riad. Something about sitting in the courtyard's open air. As she could not have it (sadly, so sadly), she thought that perhaps ........perhaps..........you might like it. The price is good, quite good. Please promise that if you buy it, you will invite her over. She will arrive bearing chocolates....

As we speak, I'm rushing to my jar of coins to see if maybe, just maybe, if I spilled them all over my carpet and counted them carefully...I will have enough to buy that piece of Zen in the medina. And if there are enough coins left over, blogging girl, I will have you over for rose petal tea in the courtyard.

If I win the lottery this week, I will be buying that divine house next week and you, dear Maryam, will be my first guest. Oh! I am filled with both peace and longing, just gazing at the photos! That pink office! *swooning*
Beauty everywhere. Thank-you for a post that transported me from certain realities to absolute fantasy...

The purple couch about killed me. In a good way. Yum.

That lovely little riad looks so peaceful, great bones, tho a bit too minimalist for me. But in my fantasies I could certainly see myself putting my own decorative touches in there. :-) But unless i win the lottery, it will remain in my fantasies. And speaking of fantasies, hmm....may we see a picture of the handsome owner? And is he single?

I LOVE that courtyard with the "pool" of river rocks. Absolutely wonderful.
Posted by:Hayden | November 14, 2007 at 03:41 PM
How lovely! Especially the courtyard. Of course it needs some hand-applied decorative touches here and there on the walls to warm it up a bit. I'm finding that tile pattern very inspiring....

well...if chocolates are part of the deal..how can i resist!?
oh yes. how. i. wish.! so beautiful, so contemporary. so everything a mommy of 4 could only dream of....
i would lie sprawling across the soft purple couch, gaze out the window... dressed in a red silk komono, sipping champagne from a deeply fluted crystal glass....sigh.
if only.

Hi beautiful.
My parents might be really interested. They live in Marrakech. It would be great if you could send more details (adress, phone ...) at my e-mail adress: themaharet@yahoo.fr.

Talk about coveting... That desk and chair are just sooooo covetable!
Posted by:tinylondon | November 14, 2007 at 06:55 PM
Hmmm....I see two desks, a sofa, a blow up chair and a rattan chair but no bed? Is this riad an office in disguise?
Good bones though. Love the stones in the courtyard, but there needs to be a fountain somewhere. Love the colors (except for that last altogether too neutral room), would add lots more plants & greenery, more touches of Marrakech, babouches to match every room maybe? But then I'm definitely NOT minimalist.
