Hello, hello. Would you like to see what’s going on at our Marrakech boutique hotel, Peacock Pavilions? It’s been months (can it be?) since I have shared any images. It’s all still a bit of a mess. So if you don’t mind, take your glasses off when viewing these photos; .......ah, that’s so much better, isn't it?
The two bedroom pavilion, each room with its own private roof terrace.
On the inside, special ordered handmade bejmat clay tile from Fes, laid in a herringbone pattern. It's filthy -- eeek. It will soon have a burnished clear glaze.
Here's an intricate part of the border. Hmmmm....a little complicated looking but since it's all in the same color, it's subtle in real life. Oh dear, yes, those are clods of dirt - my mother would be so embarrassed to know that I have invited you over without tidying up.
The darling chimneys on the roof of the small pavilion. Both bedrooms have their own fireplaces, as does the salon/great room. The pyramid shaped dome is so cool looking on the inside. The stucco is still wet - I hope you are wearing a waterproof smock.
Now moving to the second pavilion, almost all stuccoed. The interiors also have the organic bejmat tile.
Look at this modern, stepped wall with glass peep holes and windows that architect husband Chris designed. On the inside - the stairs and connecting hall between the public and private spaces.
The enormous fireplace in the great room of the 3 bedroom pavilion. It will be all white on the inside, hopefully a fresh counterfoil to the intricacy of the wall reliefs and arches.
Here we are up on the roof. A view of the dome over the great room. Wet stucco - don't touch!
The handmade creamy colored tile on the roof terraces, with chocolate colored ribbon borders. Very dirty - sigh.

Well, there you have it....I know it might all seem a little over-the-top looking but remember, this is Marrakech; this kind of architecture is not unusual.
And please....don't forget to put your glasses back on before driving :-)
