Moroccan caftans: a tale of passion
She started collecting vintage caftans. She liked to look at them, to stroke them, to admire their handiwork.....She wasn't the only one, it seemed...
Suzy Menkes talks with Pierre Berge about the exhibition "Une Passion Marocaine" at the Pierre Berge-Yves Saint Laurent Fondation in Paris. On exhibit from March 14 to August 31. Thank you beautiful-karma Kaydee for the link.
P.S. Lovely Richele from Richie Design clued me into Vivre's shopping picks inspired by Marrakech. Check it out right here.

Yes, I saw the news too and will definitely have to make it to Paris to see it! I've ordered the catalogue (from Connaissance des Arts).....

Isn't it interesting that these were worn inside the house? And that they wore something much more modest and simple outside the house? As I sit here, typing in my PJ's, I marvel at the opposite nature of dressing here. Dress your worst in the home - pj's, sweats - and then get dressed up to go out! I know this is due to culture, but I still just think the difference is amazing.

Oh, kaftans are very simple and 'airy'. In Malaysia, we have 'baju kelawar'. If translated in english, it means batcloth. Nothing like batman but it's more like kaftan.:) I love the airy feeling that kaftan offers.

Lovely caftans ... but I must say that it is your photos of doors which draw me into your world ... the white arched door several posts ago is a spectacular photo. Happy Easter!
