Before she headed off into uncharted territory, a family trip was called for....to Cascades d'Ouzoud or the waterfalls of Ouzoud, about 2.5 hours from Marrakech. Could they have done it in a day? Well of course. But a weekend is so much more festive somehow, isn't it?
They stayed at a little bohemian bed & breakfast, Riad Cascades d'Ouzoud. Why they weren't the only ones.......fellow gypsies from Britain had also descended upon the the little guesthouse....
Take a peek at some lovely details....
A tiny wall fountain in the courtyard, against hand chiseled Moroccan tiles.
A fanciful bathroom sink with a brass sink and a copper tube for a spout.
Beautiful light in the tadelakt jade walled bathroom....
A curly banister..........
A canopied roof over the open air courtyard.......
A green hand forged grate overlooking the tree-filled riad internal courtyard......
Layers of pattern, Moroccan style: a patterned leather pouf on a patterned Moroccan rug from the Atlas Mountains.......
A landing pad for convening hippies, covered with a vintage Berber blanket and pillows made from remnants of handwoven Moroccan kilims. Worn (loved), hand painted daybed.
Breakfast on hand painted Moroccan dishes, made just for the guesthouse on a handpainted table (symbols reminiscent of Moroccan wedding chests).
Oh the bohemian salon......(Hours were spent drinking beers, lounging and telling stories right here...)
Hand carved chairs with tilting woven backs. (She had two of these on one of the patios at Peacock Pavilions.) Check out the groovy Moroccan carpet:) Fun colors in the hand woven Moroccan kilim pillow.
A Moroccan pierced lantern (also known as magic at night.....)
A view to nowhere....or perhaps it was everywhere............
