Marrakech's Peacock Pavilions: a tale of architecture or a tiny Kasbah tower

You had seen my office from the inside.  But perhaps you might like to see it from the outside?

A modern interpretation of a Kasbah tower.  My architect husband's doing.  Three little floors, with her office on the top.  26 feet high.  The view was something lovely:-)

Marrakech's Peacock Pavilions: and a floral tale of sadness

Her husband was tired.
He was tired of building Peacock Pavilions.
He was tired of the mess and the noise and the cost.
He was tired of everything - just everything - going wrong.

She tried to tell him that beauty would grow from a thing with thorns.

Blog 9

that sometimes things upside down and backwards were lovely in their own way.

Blog 4

That what might seem ugly at first........was something else, if you just looked again.

Blog 5

That it didn't need to be perfect.  Or even close to perfect.

Blog 6

That people wouldn't notice the mistakes.  And if they did, they wouldn't care.

Blog 8

That order would soon return if he could just wait............ a little longer.

Oh, she tried to tell him so many things....

.......but he just looked away.

Marrakech: Peacock Pavilions and one tiny ode

Oh, she knew that wild flowers didn't grow in the desert for long --
that their bright faces would soon all be gone.

But there was something about seeing her Peacock Pavilions
                         in the yellow petaled haze....
The early morning birds singing....
The dew soaking her running shoes....

This little moment.  A poem coursing....

Marrakech: and organic eating....?

She was worried.
She was worried about what she ate.
                                                        What her husband ate.
                                                                            What her children ate.
                                                                                                        [What you ate.]

She didn't understand the ingredients.......... on the super market packaging.
She wondered what they sprayed on the fruits......?  On the vegetables.......?

She bought old fashioned glass jars.  They made her feel better.
She bought organic vegetable seeds.  They made her feel safe.

She dreamt of the day when more of what she ate grew on her own land.
Free of chemicals.
                    Free of pesticides.
Free of ingredients that she couldn't pronounce
or that had too many syllables.

One day.  One day soon.

Please.

Modello Designs: and the Peacock Pavilions dream file

She had a dream file.  Oh, you know the kind -- the file filled with pages torn out of magazines that were the stuff of dreams......The perfect couch in the perfect color.  The loveliest curtains in the loveliest fabric.  The prettiest bed with the prettiest sheets.  Sigh, the stunning livingroom, the just right bathroom, the gasp inducing guestroom.

Now unfortunately, the dream file remained mostly just that -- a dream file; oh dear, no possible way to afford the hand painted wallpaper, the $350/yard fabric, and the bronze coffee table (bronze!  Who would have thought?).  But now here's the interesting part:  tucked away in the dream file was an image of an antique lacquered screen - so exquisite in black with gold leaf and the most fanciful animals leaping to and fro.  A folly to be sure but every home needs a folly (or several, for that matter).

And so the blogging girl plucked the image of the coveted screen from her dream file, took a photo, and sent it off to Melanie of Modello Designs.  The message read something like this:

I love this.  For a guestroom wall at Peacock Pavilions.  What do you think?

The message Melanie sent back went something like this:

Oh!  I love this, too!  But let's make it all yours

And then Melanie rolled up her sleeves and got to work..........

And now....(much jumping up and down while clapping hands simultaneously) thanks to Melanie and the supercalifragilisticexpialodocious Peacock Painters....... the result, dear friends, is on the wall.........of Peacock Pavilions. (Can it be?  Oh can it be?!!)

Here's a little peek at a tiny detail.......

PS Pssst, I know a fabulous designer and 18 *amazing* decorative painters (many designers in their own right).  Maybe you would like to commission one to help you make a dream a reality in your own home?  Perhaps more affordable than you think......And did I mention, they all have passports.....?
