You should know, I am a pacifist with a violent nature.
It's all this man's fault, Mohammed. He's a black belt in karate. And a master instructor in full contact boxing, light contact boxing, and Thai kick boxing. He is the former Morocco champion and placed third in the All Africa championships. He is now the representative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Marrakech.
He's also my kick boxing coach/personal trainer. I know that might sound a little movie star-ish but I am diabetic:-( I want to live a long life. So I pay Mohammed to come to my house 2 to 3 times a week and kick my butt. Ahem, that would be literally.
I was thinking about offering guests at our guesthouse the chance to work out with Mohammed. It's an amazing way to start the day: a run through the olive grove, some jump rope, then (with boxing gloves on) work on the heavy bag and sparring or boxing combinations, some stretching, abs/push ups... (Every work out with him is different - so it's hard to predict.) Because it involves aerobic work, strength training and flexibility, it's a great all-in-oner.
Mohammed is experienced with all ages (including children) and all endurance levels (including beginners). He coaches me in French but I think he could get his English to an acceptable level. I work out with him for 1.5 hours/time but shorter or longer coaching sessions could be organized. And then after the work out, a quick shower and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice, guests would be all set for the rest of their day.....including, perhaps, milling about the souk......
I know this is not for everyone, but what do you think ?
Chris and I are also thinking of building an outdoor sports pavilion (really simple - just a tinted concrete floor and a roof) with all 4 sides open to nature. Some weights, mats, heavy bag. Basic but nonetheless......If we can find a few extra pennies.
PS And I don't mean to boast, but I now have abs... It's all Mohammed's doing:-)
