Yes, it is true....we have a pool at Peacock Pavilions, our Marrakech bed and breakfast. Or sort of, anyway. Let's call it a pool in progress.
The pool is approximately 15 meters (45 feet) long and 5 meters (15 feet) wide and although you can't tell in the photos, it is an infinity overflow pool. The pool is surrounded by ridged cement tiles, for which architect husband has made the molds and cast the tiles in sets with his crew. There is also a small overflow mini pool, which will have a bench in it (and may be heated in winter) and two stone fountain spouts. This small overflow pool is set lower and behind it there will be Moroccan salon seating -- that is to say a u-shaped banquette made out of concrete, burnished with tadelakt and covered with comfortable cushions. Over the banquette seating area will be a trellis structure on which we will grow flowering vines. Lounging by day, cocktails by lantern light by night.
It all sounds well and good, doesn't it? Especially when you consider that we imported special pigment to mix in the cement for just the right tint. But the color is having problems - it's all blotchy - and we must start all over again. $$$ down the drain. Oh dear. It's all a bit challenging isn't it?
Next stop: mosaic glass tile for the whole pool (ie no pigments to worry about). Gulp. Costly. But won't that make for a lovely swim?
