The photography course with Marcus Bleasdale in Kashmir India is over. Marcus is not only an inspired photographer, he is also a generous and patient teacher. I learned so much about the photo essay. I also learned how much I don't know and how far I have to go to be the kind of photographer I would like to be. One day.
On our last day of the course, Marcus asked us each to to take a few minutes and shoot a self portrait as an introduction to our final presentation to the group. I was rushed because I hadn't finished my assignment. As I jerked the curtain shut to take the picture, the curtain rod fell down on me. I wrapped the beautiful handmade Kashmiri crewel work curtain around me and took the shot in the mirror.
If only I could always wrap Kashmir around me. This is a place I won't soon forget.
