Marrakech, Morocco: and a tale of Moroccan caftans

Oh, you can take your short short.  And you can take your backless.  You can take your slit cut up to  here.  Or your transparent this and transparent that.  Or the one with the cut outs.  And the spaghetti straps (or perhaps the strapless).   And, it goes without saying the tight, the very tight, the very very tight.  

Yes, you can take all of those.  Every one.  Alone or in combination.  And yes, you're sexy, so sexy. So undeniably sexy.

Or you can take a caftan....A Moroccan caftan.  A beautiful Moroccan caftan.....

A different definition of sexy.  Yes?

 Ah lovelies, the sun is shining and then the moon is full and all is well at Peacock Pavilions, my own little Moroccan design hotel.  (Umm, how did I get a boutique hotel in Marrakech, anyway?  It's just proof that the world is a crazy and amazing place.}

Marrakech, Morocco: and a tale of Peacock Pavilions design hotel - Part 1

It's been a quiet Summer here at Peacock Pavilions hotel in Marrakech.  But school's back in session and our little Moroccan design hotel is back in session, too!  

Hotel guests are arriving, cocktails are pouring, and dips are being had in the pool!  We have some fun retreats coming up, new recipes in the making, and some lovely new staff. Yes, it's just the way we like it:-)

This week, I thought I'd share a few images from my own little world -- my own handmade patch of Marrakesh.

Marrakesh Morocco: and a tale of magazine fashion shoot at Peacock Pavilions

 It's always a pinch-me thrill when Peacock Pavilions is chosen as a Marrakech shoot location for a magazine.  We were ridiculously excited this past year when Swedish lifestyle magazine, Femina, selected our place as their feature shoot location for all their Spring and Summer issues.  We were in an amazing four issues!  

I wanted to share a few shots, featuring beautiful model Claudia Raba, as a follow on to some images I shared earlier with gorgeous model, Ingrid Wrissley.  

In this shot you can see some of my crazy bone collection on my bar made out of old Persian mashroobiya salvage.  You can also see some black and white photography I've collected over the years.  Claudia is sitting on a wedding blanket pouf from my shop, Red Thread Souk (Contact me or leave a comment if you'd like a custom wedding blanket pouf of your own.)

I loved these beaded sandals.  They are hanging along side my vintage record beads from Ghana.

Behind Claudia you can see part of my collection of original French color newspaper covers that tell the story of the French colonial period.  My earliest cover is from 1862!  I have over 20 of these -- my Dad gifted me with the complete collection.

The room of the Moorish Muse at Peacock Pavilions is dedicated to the Berber feminine mystique!  Antique Asian blue/green armoire.

Claudia is sitting in a vintage peacock chair that I bought by the side of a Moroccan beach road. 

Among the olive branches and in front of the striped stairs in the Peacock Pavilions pool.  A Paul Smith shirt inspired the stripes!
